The Museum of Badalona presents an exhibition dedicated to the couturier Joan Antoni Fàbregas, which will bring together a set of dresses and accessories designed by him, and which will be accompanied by a catalogue.
Josep Casamartina i Parasols with Ismael Núñez Muñoz, linked to the Fundació Antoni de Montpalau and experts in the history of fashion and textiles, have been responsible for doing the research, preparing the contents and the texts and selecting the exhibited pieces, some of which have been lent by the Foundation.
Born in Vilassar in 1942 and resident in Badalona since 1973, Joan Antoni Fàbregas started in the world of fashion as a representative of fabrics and accessories for haute couture, until 1975, encouraged by Pedro Rodríguez and Asunción Scattida, he started designing his own models and opened a small boutique in Badalona. Thanks to the success he achieved, in 1981 he opened a much larger establishment in Barcelona, at 270 of Casanovas street, which has been running until the couturier retired in 2019. Before, however, he donated , both at the Antoni de Montpalau Foundation and at the Museum of Badalona, of dresses and different materials that he kept.
With the exhibition that we are dedicating to him and the publication of the catalogue, we want to thank him for his generosity and recognize him as an outstanding figure in the world of fashion in our country.
