On Sunday 20th October, at 10 am, the inauguration of the sculpture La cadira de l’alcalde, work of the artist Pere Coll, will take place. In this way, our city wants to pay tribute to Frederic Xifré i Masferrer (Sant Andreu de Palomar 1884-Barcelona 1940), who was mayor of Badalona in 1936 and 1937, and who was shot by the Francoists at Camp de la Bota, on February 15th, 1940, shortly after the end of the Civil War.

The project for this sculpture, which will be located in the square that bears the name of Alcalde Xifré himself, is based on a motion presented to the Municipal Plenum, on January 31st, 2017, by the Alcalde Xifré Cultural Association, in defense of his memory.
