We will discover the beginnings of cultivating the vineyard in our land from the study of seeds, especially those that appeared in the Iberian settlement of the Font de la Canya in the Penedès. This site was a merchandise center of antiquity that provides the archaeological evidence of wine production and vineyard cultivation in the 7th century BC.
Nowadays, it is the archaeological site that is providing more data on the beginnings of this plant originally from Asia that has marked (economically, socially and culturally) the Penedès area. Based on these data and the results of other studies, done all over Catalonia, we will know the latest hypotheses about the origins of wine in Catalonia.
