Lecture: The ceramic craft and its productions in Antiquity. Some examples from the north-east of Tarraconense.

In a society in which there was no plastic or petroleum derivatives, ceramics was the most affordable material for the manufacture of utensils and all kinds of utilitarian and constructive elements that could be found anywhere in the empire. These elements are indicators of the degree of Romanization of society. Around the manufacture of ceramics, a highly specialized craft developed in the various phases of production.

Today we can distinguish a large number of workshops that respond to a diverse typology and different organizational systems. We also know some protagonists who were part of Roman high society who invested in the Catalan coast and who expanded their businesses, mostly linked to viticulture and the surplus production of wine intended for commercialization.
