Lecture: The conservation-restoration process of the central table of the altarpiece of Saint Sebastian in the monastery of Sant Jeroni de la Murtra, by Rosa Marina Ruiz, conservator-restorer with a long history and professor associated with the Degree of Conservation-Restoration of Goods Cultural by the University of Barcelona. This art piece had been considered missing until 2019, when the historian Albert Velasco located it at the Modern and Ancient Art Fair in Barcelona (FAMA). After informing the Museum Service of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat and the Museum of Badalona of the find, the Museum acquired it and presented it to the public in January 2022. Later, it entrusted the restoration to Ruiz who carried out the entire process that will be explained to us in this lecture in order to recover and guarantee the conservation of this key piece of Badaloní Gothic art.
This conference is part of the cycle Working with history. Another look at the medieval period jointly organized by the Festa Medieval Sant Jordi Cultural Association and the Museum of Badalona.
