This exhibition includes a set of photographs taken between the last quarter of the 19th century and the last quarter of the 20th: one hundred years of intense changes for Badalona, a town that, during this period, will be transformed into a city and will grow almost without interruption.
This change is very well evidenced by the images in the exhibition, where we can see how the city is taking the place of the fields and urban life is displacing rural habits.
Almost all the photographs in the exhibition can be seen in the publication La Badalona desapareguda, edited by Efadós in collaboration with the Museum. Here, however, they are presented in a different way. Thus, in addition to the sections dedicated to unique buildings, streets and panoramic views, we will find three more thematic threads: rituals, leisure and work.
All the photographs are part of the collections of the Museum’s Image Archive and are just a tiny part of the photos we keep that allow us to document the city and its people over time. Thanks to this richness, we can understand this exhibition as the first in a series that we will offer you periodically.
