Conference about the first democratic city councils

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the constitution of the first democratic city councils, this Wednesday at the Museum we’ll have the lecture “From the Transition to the first democratic city council”, which will be led by Margarida Abras, director of the Museum and author of some works on this period of our recent history.

The conference, centered in the city of Badalona, will talk about the second half of the 1970s -from the death of dictator Francisco Franco- and for the years 1979-1983, which correspond to the government of the first town council chosen in a democratic way since the time of the Republic.

It was a period with numerous local demands, which culminated in the municipal elections of April 3, 1979, with which the composition of the council was completely renewed and that meant the beginning of a new stage of intense work to solve the numerous deficiencies of the city.

The event will be held on the 1st floor of the Museum of Badalona and will be presented by the mayor of Badalona, Excm. Mr. Álex Pastor.
