Photo negatives are a box of surprises. The difficulty of seeing what they contain makes it even more surprising to see what they hide.

An important part of Josep Cortinas’ collection are negatives. Some time ago, the Museum, with the support of the Diputació de Barcelona, was able to digitize part of it.

One of the surprises of this photo collection is the set of images in this album, which shows the construction of the Camp Nou. Designed by the architects Francesc Mitjans Miró and Josep Soteras Mauri (in collaboration with Lorenzo García Barbón), it was built between 1955 and 1957 on the basis of concrete and iron. The Camp Nou has hosted CF Barcelona first team football matches since September 1957.

Needless to say, the negatives are earlier than this date. All indications are that it must have been an open day to visit the site of this spectacular football camp.
