The victory of Team New Zealand this Saturday, October 19th, has put an end to the America’s Cup sports competition. In this edition, for the first time, there was a women’s category, where a Catalan team participated.
Coinciding with this event, in the summer, at the Museum, there was an exhibition dedicated to Catalan patins where you could see photographs and a junior catalan patin that is part of the Museum’s collections.
In this context, we have gone through the photographic archives and selected a series of unpublished images of sailing boats and of meetings and competitions with these types of boats that have taken place on the beach of Badalona.
We have also rummaged through the archives to find some photographs of the construction of the port of Badalona, a space that, in ten years, was transformed from top to bottom, so that there are many Badalona residents who are completely unaware of how it was been the area and what had happened there. In this port, by the way, the Village Badalona is located, from where the Louis Vuitton Cup regattas have been broadcast.
