Archangel Gabriel
1943de Josep Maria Jujol i Gibert (Tarragona 1879-Barcelona 1949)
The archangel has a hand in the act of blessing and with the other holds a phylacteries with the inscription “Ave Maria Gratia Plena”. The wings, very stylized, are of tin with a reinforcement of wrought iron. The sculpture was made at the foot of the main staircase of the Codina Tower (Badalona), which was acquired in 1935 by the Negre family, and where Jujol, his friend, made several interventions in 1943. The City Hall of Badalona bought the house in 2003 and, later, the Museum retreated this sculpture to ensure its conservation.
