Naked male torso in marble
First century ADSmall naked male torso slightly tilted forwards and to the side. Sculpted in Carrara marble (Italy). Only the upper part remains, without head or arms.
Sculptures like this were found in wealthy houses in the city, in atriums or gardens. They used to be sculptures of the owners but also, as in this case, of deities or athletes. We think that this piece could be a copy of a sculpture of an athlete, from a Greek workshop.
