The carthusian monastery of Montalegre, located in Tiana, has always had a close relationship with Badalona. This fact, which is added to the great importance of the monastery, seat of hermit life for more than 600 years, has motivated the Museum to dedicate an exhibition, a book and several conferences to it.

The project starts from the work awarded in 2015 at the Humanity Photo Awards, by the photographer Oriol Casanovas, who in 2017 expanded it at the same time as a second photographer, Antonio Guillén, was added. His images will be the backbone of the exhibition, which will also incorporate some old pieces and photographs. The publication, illustrated with photos of the aforementioned authors, has been made by Jaume Oliveras, a great connoisseur of Montalegre and Carthusian charisma. His careful prose brings us closer to the life of the monastery and its architecture, discovers some unpublished facts, and explains how only certain historical events could alter the life of the Carthusians, always presided over by spirituality, silence and austerity .

The project has been carried out with the collaboration of the priors of the Montalegre monastery, the Tiana City Council and the Friends of the Monastery, especially Pere de Manuel.
