Some time ago, in 1999 and 2006, M. Rosario Viñas i de Ortiz donated to the Museum a group of more than 800 positive and negative stereoscopic photographies, mostly of her family environment. These are photographs from the first years of the 20th century and most were taken by her mother, M. Dolores de Ortiz i de Borràs, who belonged to a wealthy and bourgeois family. Married to Ramon Viñas, the family lived in Barcelona, but they had a house and some properties in Badalona.
The stereoscopic photographies are made of glass and contain two images: the one seen by the right eye and the one seen by the left eye. When viewed with a dual-lens machine, the image is viewed in 3D.
This collection is interesting for several reasons: because it contains some images of Badalona from the beginning of the 20th century, at which time there are few graphic testimonies of the city; because there are images of some activities and events that took place in Barcelona at that time and, finally, because it reflects actions, activities, spaces, costumes … of the daily life of a social class, the bourgeoisie.
