The Roman architect, engineer and treatise writer of the 1st century BC, Marc Vitruvius describes in his work De architectura, an ideal model of a Roman house for the elites of the time of Augustus: the atrium and peristyle house.

In Baetulo we have two clear examples of this constructive style such as the House of the Dolphins and the House of the Ivy, whose main characteristics we will discover in this lecture, along with those of other outstanding domus, of this and other less canonical styles, which have been preserved throughout the Catalan territory.
