Human beings have, since time immemorial, exchanged goods and services to meet their needs – even those that might seem superfluous to us. It will be, however, as of the 19th century, with the industrialization and growth of urban life, that shops will proliferate and commerce will begin a golden age which is still present.
In this exhibition we will see what the shops of Badalona were like during the late 19th and much of the 20th century, when the relationship between seller and buyer was very close, and when the establishments had a very individualized personality that, in many cases have been lost due to the emergence of large commercial malls.
The photographs of the exhibition are part of the Archive of Images of the Museum and, in many cases, have been donated by people who have wanted to share them with us. As for objects, they are also mostly donations. For this reason, we want to thank all those people who, with their generosity, have helped make this exhibition possible and bring us closer to the old Badalona before through the commercial world.
