Restoration and recovery of the modernist ceiling of La Sopera

When, in 1989, the establishment of saling and factory of soup pasta, La Sopera, located on Francesc Layret Street, 69, closed, the Museum of Badalona took the machinery that had been used to make the pasta and the carpentry of the store, where there were the countertops – thanks to the help of the sisters Eulàlia and Esperança Busquets. Also, a few boards of the painted gypsum ceiling that had a sample that simulated a field of wheat with poppies were removed too. They were made in 1912 when an important renovation and construction works were carried out on the building, projected by the Master of Works Josep Codina Clapés.

This material, preserved in the Museum’s deposits, has been restored to be incorporated into the exhibition El Modernisme i les Flors, which will open on June 27th.
